05 Sep 5 Things To Know Before Hockey Season
Hockey season is upon us, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! It’s the time of year when hockey fans have something to cheer about and our kiddos can be front and center in the action of a Flames or Hitmen game. It’s the season where our city comes alive and fills the Saddledome with the ‘C of Red’ to cheer our team to victory. This hockey season we want to make sure every sports loving, hockey aficionado has our top five tips leading up to puck drop on the 2019-2020 schedule.
1. See the Future of the Flames at the Prospects Game
On September 10th, you can see the Flames and Oilers prospects battle it out for the chance to gain a spot on an NHL team! Why not check out a game before pre-season gets rolling? Tickets are $5 and can be purchased here. It’s a great game for kids to cheer and make noise, while being inspired by the hard work and dedication of the Flame hopefuls! We are so excited to be sending some of our kids to this game thanks to our amazing supporters, we can’t wait to see you there.
2. Our Agency Partners and Our Wish List
We partner with over 300 agencies in Southern Alberta. The agencies we work with serve families experiencing poverty, critical illness and addiction as well as families with children with diverse needs and families that are new to Canada. We work with partners like Big Brothers Big Sisters, Make-a-Wish, Aspen Family and Community Network Society, PaceKids and more! It’s more than a ticket for these families – it’s an enriching experience that provides respite from their daily struggles, inspiration and joy.
Did you know that right now we have over 1,000 wish list requests for Flames and Hitmen games? Our families are HUGE hockey fans, and many have never been to a hockey game! Did something come up for you on game day and you can’t attend? Call us and we can probably find a family on our wish list that would be absolutely thrilled to attend.
3. Donate Your Tickets and Get a Tax Receipt
Have you tried to sell your tickets but had no luck? Were you planning on attending but plans changed? We can help! Last year we distributed 13,325 hockey tickets. With your help, we can break that record and make even more dreams come true! We can accept tickets on the same day for Flames and Hitmen in most cases and find a good home for them. You can even get a tax receipt by request. All we need is a copy of your season ticket invoice or Ticketmaster receipt. Completed tax receipts are emailed out at the end of the year.
4. Get all of the Flames Updates
At the Kids Up Front office, we are all hockey fans! We love staying up to date with all the Flames news. This year we are partnering with the Red Mile Podcast to stay up to date with all things Flames as well as helping spread the word about our program! Follow along on twitter @RedMilePodcast or check out their website. They have some new episodes coming up before the season starts if you’re ready to dive in and get excited about the upcoming year.
