29 Sep The Time Garth Brooks Came to Town
One of the highlights of our year so far has been the receipt of a suite for the Garth Brooks World Tour concert, featuring Trisha Yearwood! This concert had the whole community buzzing, and Garth made himself present at events around the city, wooing fans young and old.
The suite was donated privately, and the donor wishes to remain anonymous. Thank you kind donor! And thank you to TD Noteworthy, for supporting our programs that deliver musical experiences for our kids and families!
Kids Up Front invited families from the Calgary Military Family Resource Centre to join us for the concert. This organization does important work in the community, supporting members of the Canadian Armed Forces, whose occupations present unique challenges for individuals and their families. Kids Up Front is proud to count the Calgary Military Family Resource Centre as a partner!
The families that attended the concert had an amazing time, and we thank them for taking the time to send us the following messages. It makes us extremely proud to be able to share this event with members of the Canadian Armed Forces. Thank you for your service to our country.
“I want to say a big thank you for the use of your suite for the opening night of Garth Brooks. Our view was amazing! I was surprised and excited when I found out that I would be going. My daughter, was my date for that night and with this being her first ever concert, I couldn’t have picked a better one! Thank you so much again!!”
“I’m writing to thank you for sending my dad and I to the Garth Brooks Concert.
It was my first country concert and it was so much fun. Although I am turning 13 tomorrow, I still couldn’t believe how many songs that I knew. It was awesome to watch the concert from a suite!! I really appreciate the tickets. I’ll always remember it.”
“I would like to thank the MFRC and suite owner for providing my wife and daughter with such an enjoyable experience during the Garth Brooks concert.
As a member of a reserve unit here in Alberta, our families do make sacrifices in order for myself and our members to be able to perform our jobs. While we are away at field exercises, working evenings at the armouries, or out of the province on courses, our families pick up the slack and take over some of the duties that we simply cannot be around for.
My wife and daughter had an extremely enjoyable time at the concert. They were thrilled to be surprised with the tickets, especially as this was before Mr. Brooks had announced any shows, and I believe after his concerts had sold out. I am very grateful that through this kind gesture my wife and daughter were provided with a wonderful experience that they will never forget.
Thank you so much for the work that you do in providing kind gestures such as these to our families. Often they get forgotten in the thick of things, but for every good soldier there needs to be a strong family standing behind them. Thank you for recognizing them.”
Also, a big thank you to TD Canada for making this possible through our #TDNoteworthy program.
