TD Noteworthy!

30 Sep TD Noteworthy!

For years, our generous partners and supporters at TD Noteworthy have supported our programs to provide music and concert experiences for deserving kids and families in Calgary and surrounding smaller communities.

The past 12 months have seen incredible musical opportunities and performances come our way.   We were going to highlight just a few of them, but when we compiled our list of events that we have received in the past year, we were incredibly impressed by the type of events occurring in our city, the generosity of our donors, and the scope of musical experiences that we were able to provide, directly as a result of our partners at TD!  So, we could not miss this opportunity to showcase the incredible things that our kids have experienced!

The list below includes everything from The Tragically Hip’s Man Machine Poem Tour (very poignant), to the “Beyhive” in Edmonton, Rihanna, Miranda Lambert and Demi Lovato, to local music festivals such as Country Thunder and Calgary Folk Music Festival as well as classical performances such as Handel’s Messiah or Bugs Bunny at the CPO!  We are so impressed with what we had to offer this year; we thank TD Noteworthy for making so many dreams come true! The complete list follows, but please note some of the incredible things that happened this year!

Many of you know that Kids Up Front sends deserving kids to live performances with tickets that have been donated to our program.  However, some of our kids also got once in a lifetime experiences that we just have to share with you!

16 youth enjoyed a PRIVATE concert with country artist Madeline Merlo in the studios at Country 105!

A young girl enjoyed both a front row seat on the floor AND a front row seat on the stage with Shania Twain!  Shania brought her up on stage and celebrated the girl’s first concert in front of the crowd. The little girl, struck by the lights’ glare, thanked Kids Up Front for the tickets.

A very deserving youth from Bassano traveled all the way to Edmonton with her dedicated teacher for an incredible night with Beyonce.  As it poured buckets of rain, endlessly and for hours, the youth never stopped smiling and refused to leave; it was her very first concert with her favourite artist.

A youth who had been severely injured and left unable to play his guitar like he used to, was inspired once again to pick up his instrument and entertain his fellow students in the school hallways after seeing Black Sabbath in concert.  School staff knew of his love for the band, and used to enjoy listening to the student’s music; they contacted Kids Up Front and tickets were in his hands in short order.  The parent of the student remarked that “usually when the principal calls, it’s something bad.”  Not this time!

A generous donor brought down his tickets to The Who, but added a bunch of swag such as posters, a travel bag and much more to make the night a very special one for a young fan and his mom.

These dreams are made true with the generous support of donors, incredibly dedicated and astute staff of our partner agencies, people who care enough to make many phone calls to organize the kids and ensure they get where they are going, and our Kids Up Front staff who love to coordinate these opportunities.

TD Noteworthy, this very deserved tribute goes to you and your staff for sustaining this incredible program and providing 2,614 music experiences to the most deserving kids in our community.
