11 May “If you look the right way, the whole world is a garden.” – Frances Hodgson Burnett
There is a garden blooming in Calgary, not mine I can assure you, but rather one at Theatre Calgary!
We are so excited to have been invited by Theatre Calgary to view the most incredible Broadway musical adaptation of The Secret Garden, showcasing the classic and much loved story by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Written in 1911, this story has been capturing the hearts and imaginations of readers for over a century.
A very heartfelt thank you to our partners and friends at Theatre Calgary for including kids and families from Kids Up Front at shows on May 1 and 2, 2018. This fabulous and captivating performance closes out Theatre Calgary’s amazing 50th anniversary season!
We thank you for including our families in the audience, to enjoy the visual effects and surprises, experience the thunder and passion of the music and vocals, and laugh and cry along with the beloved characters, Mary, Colin, Dickon and Mr. Craven.
Indeed, this story has much to teach us about love, loss, discovery and courage, reflecting themes that many of our kids experience every day. Thank you to Theatre Calgary staff for helping make this possible for our kids; for many, this may have been their very first live theatre experience! Thank you for sharing the wonder of The Secret Garden with us.
The show provided a feast for the senses; if you have not seen it yet, take your young adults and check it out! Grab a photo in the garden key hole and post it to social media.
The Secret Garden runs until May 19, 2018 at Theatre Calgary; recommended for grades 6 and up. Running time is 2 hours and 27 minutes. Enjoy!
