06 Oct GIVING THANKS!
Today, we are giving thanks for our very own Nicky Nash, the executive director of Kids Up Front Calgary.
We wish to invite you in sharing our excitement as she received a 2017 SAIT Outstanding Young Alumna Award yesterday at the annual SAIT Alumni Awards reception.
What an incredible achievement! We were honored to be in her company and to be part of her cheering section as she received this distinguished award. Nicky has been with Kids Up Front for five years, taking over as executive director in January 2017. We know that this is only the beginning of great things for our organization, and we are lucky to have such a wonderful leader taking us into 2018!
Here is a short clip from the evening’s introductions Nicky’s journey began when she studied business at SAIT, and after graduating, she moved into a marketing role with some of the largest multinational brands. While employed in these roles, Nicky began taking on some of the community investment initiatives within those organizations, and found herself amazed and immersed in the world of nonprofits working to make differences in their communities. This was a perfect fit with her small town upbringing in Hussar, a community of 200 people where helping each other and community development are a natural and daily part of life. This passion for community work is what lead her to a career at Kids Up Front, and allows her to use her business and marketing skills to ensure the organization thrives.
“When I see the smile on a kid’s face when they see a puck drop for the first time or a child watching their favourite story come alive on stage it is magical,” Nicky said that evening. “These moments make every challenge, every overtime hour and every ounce of effort worth it and motivate me every day.”
Please join us in congratulating Nicky, on this incredible achievement. Our staff is very grateful for her leadership, her positive, warm and encouraging nature, and her ability to see the possibility in every challenge. She brings out the best in everyone!
Happy Thanksgiving weekend!
