22 Sep Flames Foundation-True Playmakers!
Many of our readers and supporters are aware that Kids Up Front works closely with the Calgary Flames Foundation and the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation. They have supported us from the beginning and KUFF would simply not be what it is today without them. With their generous support behind the scenes, as well as through the hard work of all those in the ticket office, at Will Call, and in the office, Kids Up Front is able to send thousands of kids to various events each year.
The Flames Foundation, and their staff, have been steadfast in their belief in our mission to allow deserving kids to see firsthand their hockey heroes, new and developing talent, and experience the thrill of being in the Saddledome with roaring crowds, roving mascots, and all the action on the Jumbo-Tron with the fans. For many of our kids, going to the Saddledome to watch the Calgary Hitmen or the Calgary Flames is their very first time in the venue.
Kids Up Front is so very proud to partner with the Flames organization, the Calgary Hitmen to ensure that a new generation of fans is supported to engage with live sports to promote inclusion and access for all of Calgary’s kids.
We would like to thank the Flames organization for including us in the 50/50 ticket sales to help raise funds for both the Calgary Flames Foundation and Kids Up Front; these funds make a huge impact for all kids in Calgary! Thank you to our volunteers, the KUF Krew, who give so generously of their time to make this happen!
Since the 2013 hockey season, the Flames have supported and endorsed our Suite Ambassador Program. This incredible program has procured over 268 donated suites, representing over 3,000 children receiving VIP treatment to watch their favorite teams play! While it can be the thrill of a lifetime to watch a game in a box suite, we also recognize the importance that a night out can play in a family’s life, whether this be respite from personal challenges, a chance to bond and enjoy time spent together, exposure to new activities and community venues, or simply making a dream come true for a youngster, these opportunities can spark excitement and renewal in a child’s life. Thank you to the Calgary Flames for seeing the value in this program and supporting your front-line staff in ticketing, guest relations and hosting for all you do to make sure the games and the suite program are so successful!
The Calgary Hitmen, in conjunction with Hitmen alumni Ryan Getzlaf, also deserve special recognition as we celebrate our 7th season of the Getzlaf’s Gamers program. These nights out in the TELUS suite give hundreds of kids an exciting Hitmen experience in true superstar style. Kids have the opportunity to meet players and receive autographs, take photos, visit the mascot, see themselves on the Jumbo-Tron, dance wildly, eat pizza and loads of treats, and learn firsthand about the game of hockey! Many of these children have never been in the Saddledome or seen a hockey game other than on television. The experience of live sport, with all the sights and sounds, is truly one that cannot be rivaled. A special thanks to Scott and Ranell Lorencz, Telus, Mike Moore, and Ryan and Paige Getzlaf for supporting this remarkably unique program for the last 7 years.
And what would a season be at the Saddledome without the beloved Roughnecks? This fast paced game is a crowd pleaser; last year over 400 kids and families cheered our stars right into the playoffs.
This is an incredible accomplishment; with only 3.5 staff at Kids Up Front, we could not do this without your ongoing commitment to our programs, kids and the greater Calgary community.
With the current economic climate in the province, we appreciate that many citizens are struggling to get by and feed their families. While our partner agencies may provide food and shelter, Kids Up Front provides nourishment of the soul, the spirit, and a bit of fun and respite in challenging times. All this is done with tickets that may otherwise go unused! Thank you for believing in our organization and making dreams come to life!
We look forward to the 2016-2017 sporting season and all the excitement that it brings, and we thank you for 16 years of a wonderful partnership. Now that is something to celebrate!
