Dancer Dreams!

05 Jan Dancer Dreams!

Recently, four aspiring young dancers had the night of their dreams at the Nutcracker by Alberta Ballet! Kids Up Front has the wonderful ability to create special events for children and youths through the generous support of individual donors, corporate supporters, and community partners. A special thanks to Cenovus who supports our Pay It Forward Project! We try to create unique VIP experiences to give our young people amazing nights out, and in partnership with Alberta Ballet we designed a VIP night for four deserving dance students in the Forest Lawn dance program.  Thank you Samantha Uhlich for your enthusiasm for this special event and your fabulous contribution of incredible seats, backstage tour, time with a professional dancer from the Alberta Ballet, and swag bags with signed pointe shoes, photos and water bottles for each student!  It was a night they will never forget!

The evening started with dinner at Earl’s on 16th Avenue NW; Tao Parker thank you for your generosity and your personal investment in these young people and their passion for dance. Thank you to you and your staff for making their night so wonderful; you were fabulous hosts! With your generous contribution, we were able to provide dinner for each student, their supportive teacher, and a dancer with the Alberta Ballet.  It was amazing!  Dessert looked especially great!  The table was decorated with glittering nutcrackers in anticipation of the stage production, and the students were able to take them home with them.

The teacher facilitated a “Twitter Takeover”, whereby the students were able to send out tweets about what they were seeing and experiencing.  Thank you for doing that! The night was then broadcast “real time” via twitter posts using #dancerdreams.

The photos from the stage were inspiring as it was fun to dream about being on that stage for real, with hundreds of eyes on you in one of the most famous holiday productions of all time.  The scenery, live orchestra, sounds, visual delights, stage effects, costumes and dancers were literally a feast for the senses.  Truly delightful and overwhelming in its beauty!

We really wish to thank everyone who gave of their time and talents this night to give these deserving students a night to remember.  We hope that they are inspired to chase their #dancerdreams and maybe they will be on stage one day, and maybe with the Nutcracker!

We could not have done this without Samantha, Earl’s on 16th Avenue NW, the Alberta Ballet dancer, the devoted and enthusiastic teacher, and CIBC Theatre For All which allows Kids Up Front to deliver our theatre and arts programs to such amazing youths!

This was a very exciting event for us at Kids Up Front as we love to dream, create and inspire our kids to reach their potential, and think big about their futures!
