Go Flames Go!
Kirby Cox makes #yyc proud! Nenshi says do 3 things for your city and Kirby placed one solidly in the net for a couple of deserving Calgary youngsters!
“It meant a lot to me to be able to go to the game and what made it even more special was the first game I had ever gone to, and the fact that I could be there with all the fans, and the team to share a very crucial and special win with them made it extraordinary. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am so thankful for it.”
This random act of kindness was worthy of the fanometer, the decibel reading the equivalent of a jet taking off….Wouldn’t it be great if this gesture was paid forward? A little challenge for you all as we confidently secure our berth in the playoffs? Hope this is not a premature though as we face off again tonight against those Vancouver Canucks….!
Kirby Cox bid $1000 for Flames playoff hockey tickets on Jack FM and turned around and donated them to Kids Up Front! On Tuesday, a sixteen year old girl and her seventeen year old brother enjoyed premium seating at center ice for what was a crazy night in a C of Red (except for those two yellow guys reportedly from Edmonton!). The flag floated by, the cheering was intense and the atmosphere super-charged for these kids’ first game ever! What an experience!
One of our partner agencies nominated these kids to receive the tickets due to some difficult life circumstances and the fact that they are diehard Flames fans, but only ever having the opportunity to watch the games on television.
The kids said the highlights of the game were Johnny Gaudreau and how he rocketed the score right away with a goal and an assist, and the extraordinary goal-tending by Jonas Hiller.
“It’s great to see how much pride our city has, I think it’s truly shown at these times.”
I don’t know about you, but these articulate appreciative youngsters and Kirby Cox are what make the Kids Up Front team VERY proud to be Calgarians and a part of the C of Red!
Look how amazing their seats were! Thank you Kirby!
